Camping near Superior, WI
Amnicon Falls is located about 15 miles east of Superior, Wisconsin a short distance off US Highway 2. It offers 36 nicely spaced and wooded campsites and some attractive hiking and walking trails. It is more oriented towards tent camping as it has vault toilets and water . . . but no electricity, no showers, no electric hookups nor dump station. However most of the sites are level so it is feasible for RVers who don't need any hookups. The park is open year round and thus available for wintertime camping and snowshoeing.
If you are traveling through the area, the park would make a nice stop for a picnic and an easy hike around the falls. Typically the water levels for the falls are down in the fall, but the color of the fall foliage adds scenic compensation.
BTW It's Amnicon Falls not Amincon Falls nor Amicon Falls. A bit of a tonque-twister, eh?
Amnicon River Waterfalls
< < < The Covered Horton Bridge is a favorite subject for photographers. The design traces back to 1898 when Charles Horton took out a patent on the design. It is not known when the bridge was constructed, but it was moved to its present location in 1930.
