Waterfalls in the UP
Among Upper Michigan's most impressive Waterfalls in the Western UP are on the Montreal, the Black, and the Presque Isle Rivers . . . all within 60 miles of one another. There's also some nice falls in the Baraga area. In the Eastern UP,
the best falls are near Munising, in Pictured Rocks National Park, and Tahquamenon Falls near Whitefish Point.
Other UP Attractions
Porcupine Mountain State Park is a recreational jewel not to be missed. It has thousands of acres of older growth woods, a gazzillion hiking trails, sparkling rivers, waterfalls, high peaks, scenic vistas, back country camping, a full service campground with RV amenities, and an informative visitor center.
Another must see area is Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Park. Like the porkies it offers hiking, camping, beautiful scenery, and waterfalls. Also sand beaches and at its eastern end near Grand Marais, MI there are some top notch agate and rock hunting beaches.

More Special Places to Visit in the UP
Less well known but offering some nice hiking trails, scenic waterfalls, and a nice picnic ground is the Black River Harbor Scenic Byway.
The better known Keweenaw Peninsula offers picturesque villages, lighthouses, many miles of beaches, a scenic mountain top drive, and great views of Lake Superior.
Other popular UP attractions are lighthouses, the Seney Wildlife Refuge, and the Soo Locks. And we have to mention the Yooper Tourist Trap, an outrageous homage to "Yooper" culture a few miles west of Marquette, Michigan on US 41.
With many areas in the UP accumulating up to 200 inches of snow in a winter season, it is a popular winter recreation destination for downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.
