Minnesota North Shore: Skiing, Snowmobiling, Snowshoe Hiking, Snow Reports, Winter Festivals and more

For outdoor recreation, snowshoeing hiking trails is our favorite wintertime activity along the North Shore. Many others enjoy downhill skiing at Lutsen or Spirit Mountain, cross country skiing in the state parks and national forest trails, snowmobiling along the many excellent trails the entire length of the north shore, ice fishing, and other winter festival activities.
Below are a few of the Minnesota North Shore winter recreation and events, plus a snow conditions report links, we know are taking place from Duluth, MN to Grand Marais.

Winter is a great time to enjoy the North Shore; you can see views and sights not easily seen during the other seasons. Here's some North Shore winter recreation photos and scenes from an earlier winter, where we enjoyed a wintertime visit to some of our favorite hiking trails on snowshoes and sampling some of our favorite restaurants. We returned in a later year . . . to catch the John Beargrease Race in January.
