Touring Bayfield Orchards during the Scarecrow Festival - Bayfield, Wisconsin
June through October, Bayfield area orchards offer fresh picked berries, cherries, pears, apples, vegetables and all the products made with these locally grown produce - ciders, jellies, jams, pies, mustards, maple syrup and more.

Fall, September through October, is one of our favorite times of year to tour the orchards. This is when apples are season and the fall colors are out. In year's past we've caught both during Bayfield's famous Apple Festival (traditionally the first weekend in October) but in 2006 we decided to stop by a week early to avoid some of the crowds. A bonus was also catching the Scarecrow Festival.
The orchards, area artisans, local businesses, and families all compete to create interesting, unique, and fun scarecrows to decorate the town and the region surrounding the town of Bayfield. The festival runs from mid-September to the end of October.
