Getting ready to board the Christmas City Express
at the Fitgers Brewery Complex

Duluth's North Shore Scenic Railway puts on its own version of the Polar Express Christmas Classic with a special Christmas Train that runs from the Fitgers Brewery Complex to the downtown Depot and Lake Superior Railroad Museum. Once there kids and their parents enjoy a Christmas Show, a special reading of a Christmas Story and a visit with Santa.

After the show is over and everyone has enjoyed a visit with Santa and Christmas Cookies and Hot Chocolate, they re-board the Christmas City Express for the return trip to Fitgers. The whole experience lasts about 90 minutes.

The Christmas Train begins running the day after Thanksgiving and operates weekends until Christmas.

The first running of the train occurs at noontime on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Santa boards the Christmas Express at the Depot and rides the train to the Fitgers Brewery Station where he appears with some of his reindeers and then finds his way to his Fitgers living room to sit with kids wanting a visit with Santa.

Then every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm til Christmas Santa will be at Fitgers to visit with the kids. But in the evening he is at the Depot for Christmas City Express show.

Bentleyville Tour of Lights Shuttle

In the past, the North Shore Scenic Railway ran a special holiday Christmas Shuttle Train between Fitgers and the Bentleyville Christmas Lights Village. Bentleyville "Tour of Lights" is Duluth's huge Christmas Lights Display, reputed to be the largest free holiday lights display in the country.
