The Yooper Tourist Trap

Da Yoopers Tourist Trap, Ishpeming, Michigan - Upper Peninsula
"Big Gus" and other Yooper Inventions beckon the traveler along US 41 as it passes by Ishpeming. Beware, for if you do stop this Yooper lure will be an effective trap, capturing you for at least a half an hour as you tour the outdoor Yooper Museum and memorabilia.
Inside are the usual tourist gift shop attractions - shirts, mugs, plaques, postcards, coffee, jam, CD's, candies - and an assortment of gadgets & signs reflecting with the off the side of the road Yooper psyche. There's also a separate Rock Shop that did snare some of my money as I found a great rock hound book for collecting lake superior agates.
Da Yooper Tourist Trap is definitely worth a stop and for anyone unfamiliar with Yooper Mythology, in our opinion a "must see" stop if your travels take you close to Marquette, Michigan. Located on the south side of US Highway 41 about 12 miles west of Marquette, Mi.
