Camping & Campgrounds - Munising Pictured Rocks
Michigan's Upper Peninsula
South Shore Lake Superior Circle Tour

Sunrise at Bay Furnace Campground, near Munising, Michigan
Bay Furnace National Forest Campground
There are a number of private and public campgrounds in and around Munising, Michigan. Our favorite is Bay Furnace, located in Christmas, Michigan a few miles west of Munising.
The 50 campsites are nicely spaced with picnic table, fire grills, level tent pads and ample parking areas and include both open and wooded sites. Other amenities include fresh water hydrants, vault toilets (which are kept quite clean by the campground hosts), picnic grounds and an expansive sand beach on Lake Superior. Bay Furnace is far enough from the highway to be isolated from the noise, but close enough to easily travel to Munising, Pictured Rocks, and other area scenic and recreational areas.

Spacious and level tent sites and parking.

We lucked out and scored a lake front camp site. While there are no RV hookups, Bay Furnace does have an RV dump site. |

Sandy beach with some rocks for rock hounds and agate hunters.

The historic Bay Furnace tht lends its name to the campground. |
